The western part of India was being attacked by thousands of years. The foreigners invading this country thinking it is a wealthy land. The Rajaputs of Rajastan opposed this bravely. These Rajaputs victory and sacrifice of women even inspires today for nation’s work.

“Mewar’ was very famous in Rajasthan. The place became popular due to the birth and sacrifice of brave kings. Ranahameer, Ranasanga and so on brave people got birth in the dynasty called ‘Sisidiya’. Ranapratap was – born in the very dynasty in the year 1540 May 9 in a village called “Kumabala’ as a second Sun. His mother Javanti bayi chouhan and father Udayasimha II.

At that time many kings having fought with Mughal emperor and after losing considered him as their emperor. Some of them felt blessed themselves by serving him. Then Akbar was ruling Delhi. He was utilizing the quarrel between the kings and empowered himself. Some kings who were in his custody were serving him. The Rajaputs who were dedicated their life for the sake of country if they only have forgotten their duty then what to tell about others? India was always enslaved by the invasion of foreigners.

Thus when everywhere darkness had spread Ranapratap was shining like a flame of lamp. Though the father of Rana, Udayasimha was a courageous king but due to the bad circumstances Chitour-Mewar and other places were in others hand. Rana who ascended the throne after the father decided to recapture the lost places.

First Ranapratap called a delegates meeting and there he took oath like this – until get back the lost territories. I will not eat in gold and silver vessels, will not sleep on soft cushion and will not dwell in palace.”

At that time a furious battle was fought with the enemies at Haldighat. The enemy’s army was like an Ocean. Ranapratap fought furiously at battle field. But he couldn’t get complete victory. He always got the help of his favorite horse Chetak. He was able to protect himself due to the help of horse. He started accumulating the army staying at the caves of forests.

When Rana Pratap was living in forest with his family, they didn’t have food to eat. One day wife of Ranapratap made some roti from the seeds available in the forest. After that she distributed the roti and while giving to daughter she asked her keep half of that for next day. But hunger stricken girl started eating the roti. By this time a wild cat came from somewhere and snatched the roti from the girl’s hand. then girl started crying and Rana Pratap also felt very sad. But remembering his oath he was quiet.

But remembering the oath, tolerating the different kinds of problems with a firm mind, he went to the bank of Sindhu River with a hope of energizing the army. There after uniting the dutiful Rajaputs, he tried to achieve his goal. Tribals called Billas protected the women and children of Rajpoot’s from danger also they protected from mining pits. They fought for Ranapratap at Haldighat war and also helped as spies and broken the secrets of enemies.

One day Ranapratap was crossing the border an aged person approached him. The accumulation of army and training them was very expensive. For Ranapratap who suffering from the poverty, this was the major problem. However to achieve his goal he was ready to go anywhere so he was crossing the border of Rajasthana. Having heard this aged person called Bhamashaha thought that it is a time for a great task. He was the minister in the court of Ranapratap’s ancestor. He earned lots of money. He told Ranapratap ‘King I am the servant of your dynasty and I have lots of money. From that you can take care of 25000 soldiers up to 12 years. At that time Rana said ‘I don’t take that money and I will get money from elsewhere’.
Then Bamashaha said this money is not others, this money is earned for the sake protecting the country and if it helps then my life would be meaningful’.

After listening the words of aged BHamashaha the mind of Rana filled with gratitude. Having got that wealth he started accumulating the army. He also got money from elsewhere. He built a huge army using that money.

The enemies were teasing Rana as he left his own birth place. They never even dreamt that he would come back for battle. But Ranapratap falsified their assumption and recaptured the lost territories with courage. He threatened the heart of the enemies by capturing the places one by one. His body was unable to bear more difficulties which already faced many problems. Though the victory like garland was ornamenting his neck one by one but he had the sadness of not getting the victory over Chitour. He was the king of Mewar. But during the death time after taking the oath from them regarding the victory over Chitour, he felt happy. Ranapratap(56) was hurt during the time of hunting in Chavanda region and died in the year 1597 january 29. Then his son fulfilled the desire of Ranapratap.

To show the honour for Ranapratap, Government of India released a postal stamp and coin in his memory. A statue of Ranapratap seated on horse ‘Chetak’ is installed in front of parliament.
