The poet asks of children not to give any pain to the living creatures. He tells them to allow the gentle robin to come and eat the small pieces of bread or cake left at home.
Robin is happy to see a piece of bread and repays our kindness by singing a melodious song. The speaker pleads not to hurt the timid hare. He tells to allow the hare to come and sport and play on the Lawn.
The speaker tells the children to look at the Lark soaring high to the bright windows of the sky. The lark sings as she sings in the spring and never feels tired.
