Channapatna Toys Summary in English
Channapatna is a small town between Bengaluru and Mysore. We get beautiful and colourful toys in this place. All children come here to purchase as this town is famous for toys. Really one wonders at the exquisite craftsmanship. We notice Janapada Loka, a folklore centre near Channapatna. We find Kengal Anjaneya Swamy Temple which attracts thousands of devotees.
Two school-going girls called Divya and Muktha wanted to spend Sunday in a special way. They wanted to go out. At that their grandfather called them and told them about the pictures of toys in the newspapers. The two sisters were eager to listen to the story about toys. He told the following story.
Tippu Sultan brought Persian toymakers to his kingdom and they trained the local artisans there and left their precious art of toy making. There is one N.G.O. called ‘MAYA ORGANIC’ in which people work hard with this Persian art and make toys. They chip away a piece of wood and now they use machines. So each toy is made with a lot of care and concentration. They use vegetable colours and send these toys to foreign countries. So they are special toys.
The grandfather continues his story and tells about Mr. Girish who has got 18 years of experience in toy making. His father who is 74 years old, works still. His brother and other members of the family work together and make toys. They make plain toys which are world-famous. These toys are made out of Aale Mara and the WTO protects it as a Geographical indication.
The Government of Karnataka provides training along with the support of KHDC. The government has constructed a Lacquerware Craft Complex on Tatte Kere Road.
Besides toys, they make cricket bats, wickets, photo frames, trophy bases, and spectacle holders. The government develops this dying art with the help of the Dutch Government. The grandfather tells about the temple which is renovated by Shri Kengal Hanumanthaiah and people come here from far and near. Dr. Rajkumar’s songs in praise of God still haunts the memory of all.
In Ramanagara, one can see lots of folklore articles. It is founded by Dr. H. L. Nagegouda. They develop our tradition, culture, and art. The two sisters became happy after listening to their grandfather and decided to visit Channapatna and Ramanagara with their grandfather in the summer vacation.
