Question 1.
Write a note on the life of Jesus Christ.
Answer :
Jesus was born in Bethlehem in a poor family. His parents were Joseph and Mary. They were also Jews as others in Judea’ province. Jesus had learnt Arernic and Semitic languages. Jesus led a very simple life. He spent most of his time with the poor and the miserable.
He described God as Father of Man. He asked his people to love their neighbours. He had twelve disciples who were called ‘Apostles’. He had travelled many places to preach his ideas. When he came to Judea, he was arrested and crucified. The Christians believe that Jesus rose from the grave on the third daughter after crucifixion. Easter is celebrated every year in memory of that event.

List the teachings of Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ preached in a simple manner.
They are based on the ten commandments.
- Jesus asked his people to consider God as their Father and all his children.
- Everyone has to repent for their sin. He stressed the importance of forgiveness.
- He condemned violence, hypocrisy and selfishness.
- He equated service of man with service of God.
- Everyone should do good to others without any expectation.

How did Christianity expand?
Answer :
Jesus travelled in different parts of Judea and preached his religious philosophy. Jesus and his disciples showed mercy towards the poor and the diseased. After the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, his disciples were tortured and some of them were crucified. But majority of Jews were attracted by the teachings of Jesus. The Roman Emperor Constantine declared Christianity as the State Religion. After that Christianity spread throughout Europe. Today Christianity has spread throughout the world having a large number of followers.

Write a note on the life of Mohammad Paigambar.

Mohammad Paigambar was born in 570 A.D. at Mecca in Saudi Arabia. His parents were Abdulla and Ameena. His father died before his birth. He lost his mother in his early age. He was brought up by his uncle, who was a trader.
He gained worldly knowledge while he was travelling. Mohammad joined the services of a widow trader, Khadija and then he married her and led a comfortable life having two sons and four daughters.
Mohammad had developed the habit of meditating all alone. Once he heard the voice of an Angel while he was meditating after enlightenment he called himself the Prophet of God. He propagated the monotheism. Many poor people and slaves became his followers. But the traditional people of Mecca began to hate Mohammad.
So he went to Medina. This journey of Prophet Mohammad i§ called as ‘Hijra’. His successor’s Caliphs propagated Islam religion in different parts of the world.

What is ‘Hijra’?
Answer :
As the life of Mohammad Paigambar was in danger, he had to leave Mecca. He went to Medina to take shelter. This event took place in 622 A.D. This incident is known as A1 Hijira or Migration. It has become the first year of the Muslim calendar.

Islam means submission of oneself before God and Muslim means the follower of God. The teachings of Islam are given below.
- God is one. A simple prayer is enough to win the heart of God.
- One should lead an honest and principled life and should keep away from all the bad habits.
- One should have respect for women and compassion for the poor and weak.
