रमशान ने आह भरकर पहाडी से क्या कहा?
उत्तरः
रमशान ने आह भरकर पहाडी से कहा – मै इंसान से जितना प्यार करता हूँ, उतना ही वह मुझे नफरत करता हैं। सभी मनुष्य यही चाहता हैं कि कभी उन्हे मुझ से मिलना ना पडे। पर वास्तव में मैं इतना बुरा नही हूँ। संसार में जब मनुष्य को एक दिन के लिए भी स्थान नहीं रह जाता, तब मैं उसे अपनी गोद में स्थान देता हूँ। चाहे अमीर हो, या गरीब, बुढा हो या बालक, मैं सबको समान दृष्टि से देखता हूँ। इस तरह उदास था।
प्रश्न 2.
मनुष्य के प्रेम के बारे में रमशान के विचार प्रकट कीजिए।
उत्तरः
मनुष्य के प्रम के बारे में रमशान विचार इस प्रकार अपना विचार प्रकट करता हैं। कि मेरे पास इनसान की तरह प्रेम भर दिल होता, जिस में अपने प्रिया के लिए मर मिठने की बाते होगी कभी दूर से हवा आती हैं और मुझे लैला – मजनूँ और शीरी – फरहाद की प्रेम कहानियाँ मुझे सुना जाती है, फिर रमशान कहता है – प्रिया की प्रतीक्षा में, राह में पलके बिछाए बैठा रहता। प्रिया का जीवन ही मेरा जीवन होता और उसकी मौत मेरी मौत होता। मनुष्य के पास जैसा प्रेमभर दिल है, उसे पाने के लिए मैं अपने जैसे सौ जीवन भी कुर्बान करता। इस प्रकार रमशान का विचार हैं।
प्रश्न 3.
पहली पत्नी की मृत्यु पर युवक किस प्रकार विलाप करने लगा?
उत्तरः
एक दिन छोटी सी भाड किसी शव के लिए आ रही थी। वह शव एक नवयुवक की पत्नी थी ।
दूसरे दिन को वही युवक पागलों की तरह लडखडाता हुआ आया, अपनी पत्नी की शव बटोरते हुए रो रहा था. कह रहा था तुम मुझे छोडकर कहाँ चल गई, कितनी बार तुमने कसमें खाई थी कि जिगी भर तुम मेरा साथ दोगी, तुम्हारे बिना मै जीवित नही रह सकता। तुर’ नहीं तो मेरे जीवन का कोई अर्थ नहीं, कोई सार, कोई रस नहीं। इस प्रकार वह विलाप कर के रोरहा था मानो किसी ने उसका सर्वस्व लूट लिया हैं।

युवक अपनी तीसरी पत्नी की मृत्यु के उपरांत उसे सब से अधिक गुणी क्यों समझता हैं?
उत्तरः
युवक की तीसरी पत्नी की मृत्यु के उपरांत आज भी उस के आँसु पीडा देने वाले थे। आज भी उसकी बातें भी वही थी, केवल इतना अंतर था कि आज उसे अपनी तीसरी पत्नी सबसे अधिक गुणी दिखाई दे रही थी। क्योकि तीसरी पत्नी से ही उसका सच्चा प्रेम था। पहली उसकी आज्ञाकारिणी पनि थी, दूसरी साथ चलने वाली थी और तीसरी को सबसे अधिक गुणी इसलिए समझता था कि वह आगे चलनेवाली, मार्गदर्शीका थी जिस के बिना वह एक पल भी नही रह सकता था।
प्रश्न 5.
अंततः पहाडी ने तरस खाकर श्मशान से क्या कहा?
उत्तरः
पहाडी ने रमशान की हालत देखी और तरस खालर बोली जो इंसान प्रेम करता है, से जीवन भी कम प्यार नहीं करता। वह प्रेम की यादे, कल्पना और आद्यात्मिक भावना पर ही जिंदा जीवन की पूर्णता के लिए वह फिर बार-बार प्रेम करता है । करता हैं। जीवित रहने लिए वह हर वियोग झेल लेता है। व्यथा सह लेता है, वह सबसे अधिक अपने आपसे करत हैं।
श्मशान Summary in English
This is the story written by famous Novelist and Story writer Srimathi Manu Bhandari. In this story she explained, how an young man feel bad or suffer after the death of his three wives one after another. Here the writer gave life of the graveyard and a mountain.
They talk to each other about the youth who lost is three wives. The man loving an women to get satisfied himself fully. He is experiencing the happiness and sufferings throughout his life. The writer explained here a story of such a person.
At the end of the day, the watchman of the graveyard, ate some thing and slept in a corner. Then the Graveyard fell in thought- I like equally all the humans in the world and I give place for them, when they loose their place in the world. Even then the man is affraid of coming to my place and he hesitate to show the affection towards me.
Then the nearby mountain told to the Graveyard – you are fool the man is very selfish. He never love anyone than self. By that time there came a dead body of an young woman. A small crowed sur rounded it. One youngman was weeping and crying badly. He was the husband of the dead woman. While feeling and crying, he was telling, you are my love and happiness, you left me alone here and went away. After performing the burial ceremony all went away.
The grave thought – can I love so much any body. Next day the braved husband of that woman, came there to collect the ashes.
At that time also he pained and wept so much and told- two years back you gave a word that I will be with you throughout the life. But you went off, by leaving me alone. Now nothing is there in my life. Like this, he suffered and cried too much. The graveyard observed all these. After that, it thought he will die and come to me, then I will re-unite them for ever.
Days passed, the Graveyard started to worry too much for humans. After three years, once again the same youth and other brought the dead body of others women to bury. Similarly he was weeping and suffering for the death of his second wife.
The next day he came to collect the ashes and started to weep and cry by saying that, Sukeshi was my dependent, so, her death did not made me to suffer too much. But you were my close associate. Therefore my feelings are more.
Why did you went away leaving me alone with full of tears ? When he went away the small doubt the graveyard was solved. It thought, this time definetly he will going to die and I can unite them here, like this, many dead bodies were coming. The relatives of the dead person used to weep, suffer and cry for their dead relatives. There appeared a calm in the mind of graveyard, irony of the mountain increased.
Within the period of two years, again the same youth come there with another dead body his third wife. He was very weak, suffering, weeping and crying too much. His feelings touched the heart of the graveyard. Again the same process and the same weeping. This time the heart of the graveyard became hard like a stone.
It went into deep thought- man loves others. But for him, his life is also very important. His life not based on the love, vision or spiritual belief. Throughout the life, he will keep on loving. When he looses his hopes of life, he will win over the sadness. Because the man loves himself more than the others. After knowing this truth the graveyard calm down and remain silence.
