It is very important to use precise language in poetry because it is a magical, mysterious, and unexplainable event. Though the idea was old, the style of using the phrase was new, a Borges appreciated the line.

‘A book goes beyond its author’s intention.’ Do you agree?
Yes, I agree. When a book is written, readers do not interpret the book according to the author but according to their own perception. So, the book goes beyond its author’s intention. The author may have a different opinion while he was writing the book, but once the reader takes the book into his hands, his opinion becomes important. So, the books are interpreted in the readers’ opinion rather than the author’s opinion.
‘Poetry is magical, mysterious, and unexplainable’. how does Borges explain the strange aspect of poetry?
Borges says that poetry could not be understood without oversimplifying it. If the poet wants to describe love, he would take images like rose, as a symbol of love. If he wants to describe old age, he can depict it with yellow autumn leaves. The poetic act takes place when the poet writes the best words in the best order. After it is written, the reader must understand it. There may be differences in their understanding concepts. Nobody exactly defines what poetry is and so it is a magical, mysterious, and unexplainable.
What value does Borges see in literature? Why is it important for the future of mankind?
Literature to quote “ever man feeds it, ever man reads it. Time cannot age it and death cannot slay”. By this quote one can understand literature is forever because its function is irreplaceable. If books disappear there would be no world to be interpreted.

I Believe that Books will Never Disappear Summary in English
– Interview with Jorge Luis Borges
The lesson ‘I Believe That Books Will Never Disappear’ is taken from ‘Twenty Four Conversations with Borges’. It is from the interviews conducted by Roberto Alifano, a journalist with Jorge Luis Borges, a poet, writer, and essayist.
The extract brings out the opinions, feelings, and thoughts about literature. Jorges expresses to Alifano that his first literary reading was “Grimm’s Fairy tales”. He was educated by his father’s library, more than a university. He expressed that his mother was very kind to him but he realised her importance only after her death.
Though he was blind, he took it positively. As an artist, he used it as raw material for his creative art. He positively says that humiliations and misfortunes and embarrassments are the stepping stones to achieve our success in life. His blindness was not an obstacle for him, and even though blind, he buys books and works on them. He argues on the culture or fashion that we should not leave our tradition and blindly follow others.
He believes that books are sacred and magical, in bringing happiness when we read them. The interviewer gets positive answers from Borges about writing a ‘book on the history of books’ that even at the age of 83 he wants to start the book though it may be incomplete, he would get the satisfaction of trying to write the book.
Borges describes poetry and tells Alifano that poetry is an intimate and aesthetic art and poetry cannot be simplified in order to describe it. Poetry is much legible and gets appreciated by all. Precise words in order are used to compose the best poetry and metaphors are very essential and important to write poetry.
The writer also believes that literature extends our imagination and boosts our memory. Finally, he also opines that the function of books can’t be replaced by other things and if they disappear from the world nothing could sustain.
