When the children saw the hands of Mrs. Brown, they noticed that she had seven fingers in each hand. Her eyes were completely in one colour. They didn’t have any black centres.

When Pete sneaked into the living room to know the plight of his teachers, he heard the Browns talking. But he couldn’t understand anything as their talk sounded like hissing and clicking at each other.
d. Different ways children tried to get out of the house.

When they realized that the Browns were aliens, they tried the various ways to get out. They tried opening the backdoor but it didn’t. So they took the walking stick and banged at the. door and the window. The glass didn’t break at all. Then they thought of escaping through the front door.

What suspicion did the children have about the Browns and their house? What convincing reason did Mrs. Browns come up with?
Answer:
The kitchen seemed to be a hospital. There was no washing-up machine, no pans, no pots. The cupboard was empty and there was nothing at all in the fridge. Mrs. Brown said that they had just moved in and didn’t have the time to sort things out; that was why the place looked deserted.
Question 2.
How did Pete become instrumental in saving the teachers and his mates?
Answer:
When the children realized that the Browns were not humans, they wanted to escape. Pete went to the living room to call his teachers but found them sitting in a dazed stupor and the Browns talking which sounded like hissing and clicking. Pete realised that they were aliens and rushed back into the kitchen. They tried to escape, but in vain.
When Mrs. Brown came into the kitchen, Pete questioned her about the equipment and the door being locked and asked to meet his teachers. When they refused, Pete opened the cupboard and holding a walking stick threatened to smash the controls. The aliens brought the teachers into the kitchen. Pete asked Glen to hold a chair ready to smash it against the panel.
He made the aliens open the backdoor and asked all of them to escape through the backdoor. Then he asked the aliens to go into a room and lock themselves up. After they did that, Pete and Glen rushed out of the back door as fast as they could. Thus Pete saved his friends and teachers.

The Collectors Summary in English
Six children and three teachers are out for an adventure walk when it starts raining heavily. They see a house but are surprised to see one in a lonely and deserted place. Since it is raining heavily, they go there and request shelter till the rain stops. Mr. and Mrs. Brown, the house owners very cordially welcome them, ask the children to sit in the kitchen and ask the teachers to sit in another room for a pot of tea.
The children look around and see that the kitchen is bare, the fridge empty, the cupboard also empty. Mrs. Brown comes to the kitchen and tells them that since they have moved into the house very recently, they haven’t arranged their house yet and tells them not to open any cupboard tells them that she’ll get them orange juice and goes away.
The children notice that her hands had seven fingers and her eyes were fully black. They decide to find out what has happened to their teacher. They see that their teachers are sitting and staring blankly in a stupor. The children realize that they have been caught by aliens. They open a large cupboard and see dials, digital read outs, coloured lights and a mass of other electronic gadgets.
Mrs. Brown comes back with the juice but the children confront her. When she says that they are much stronger than the kids, Pete and Glen threaten to smash the controls. They make Mr. and Mrs. Brown lock themselves in a room and they escape.
The whole party escape and sit in a moorland and notice that the house was no longer there. They decide not to speak of their experience to others, because they feel that no one would believe them.
