Though Drona had not taught him directly, Arjuna was jealous of Ekalavya. So Arjuna accused his guru that he had not kept his word. Drona was pressurized by Arjuna and the situation made him ask the right thumb ofEkalavya as his guru Dakshina. Being a humble disciple and devotee of his guru, Ekalavya was ready to offer his right thumb and requested his guru to accept it and bless him. Really Ekalavya was a noble student history ever saw.

Ekalavya Summary in English
In the Ashram of Drona, the Pandavas were telling him that they were yet to learn the skillful trick of archery – The Shabdevedhi. Ekalavya entered the paid his respects to the guru and asked Drona to accept him as his disciple as he wanted to learn archery to save the animals in his forest. Acharya told him that he had taken a now that he would teach only Kshatriya or a Brahmin. But he blessed. Ekalavya and he went back happily.
Ekalavya paid respects to the guru’s idol and practiced archery every day. He had achieved his goal and in these 2 tears he learned archery and now his animals were moving around peacefully.
Suddenly he heard a barking sound. He thought some dog was troubling his deer. So he shot arrows in the direction of the barking sound and the sound stopped.
He was surprised to see his guru, Pandavas and the dog with many arrows in its mouth Acharya praised him and his guru as he had learnt the art in a very short period. To this Ekalavya replied everything happened with your blessing and guidance.
Hearing this Arjuna asked guru that you had promised to make Arjuna the greatest archer but now this boy has excelled him. Acharya replied I was with you people. T was the devotion of that boy which made him a good bowman.
Acharya asked Ekalavya that he should be given guru Dakshina and he asked Ekalavya his right thumb. Ekalavya go went to the …….. bowed and took a knife from his belt, cut his thumb and gave it to the guru as his guru Dakshina and sought his blessing.
He told Arjuna you were the greatest archer and I would never be your competitor. Acharya was very happy to see Ekalavya as a noble soul. The message of this lesson is we should have devotion towards anything we do. If we do it wholeheartedly, we will definitely achieve our goal.
