The King’s Ministers Summary in English
Once upon a time, there lived a lion in the forest. Being the King of the forest, he thought of appointing ministers to help him. He made fox as Home Minister because of its intelligence and cleverness. The Lion told the Leopard to be the Defence Minister because it is alert and swift-footed. The Lion appointed the crow to be his minister for External Affairs. All the three were grateful to the lion and thanked him. All three ministers helped the King to find the prey and they would eat after the Lion had eaten his share.
One day the crow told the lion to taste the meat of the camel. The lion liked the idea of tasting camel meat though he had never seen a camel. The next day the lion along with three ministers went to the desert. It was a long distance. During the journey, the hot sand of the desert burnt the lion’s paws. The lion told his ministers to return to the forest but the three did not want to lose the opportunity to eat the meat.
The fox ran to the camel and told that his master was killed by the lion and he had invited him to come and live with him. The camel believed the fox so went happily with the fox.
The lion jumped on the camel’s back. So did the three ministers. They came to the forest, hungry and tired. The lion thanked the camel for saving his life and promised his protection. The lion was hungry but his burnt paws prevented him from hunting. He ordered his ministers to provide him food. They went in search of food but they didn’t get any food.
The crow came to the lion and offered himself to be eaten by him. Then the fox told the lion to eat him as he had more flesh than the crow. Then came the leopard who said that he was bigger and he could eat him first.
The camel heard and understood the loyalty of the three ministers. So he too offered himself as food for the king. When the ministers heard the words of the camel, they were ready to pounce on him but the lion prevented them from doing it. Further, the lion told them that he would eat all of them in the same order in which they offered themselves.
When the ministers heard this, they fled. The crow flew away. The fox ran fast and the Leopard fled away. But the camel didn’t move. The lion had a hearty laugh and understood the real feelings of the camel. He considered him as his loyal friend and allowed the camel to live with him happily by assuring protection.
